After the creation and placing under management of the marine sites of the Natura 2000 European network, Europe launched a new marine environment protection dynamic with the marine environment strategy management plan from June 2008. It is undoubtedly the new major environmental project that the EU member states must implement in terms of protecting the marine environment. The Agence des Aires Marines Protégées contributes to the application of this directive and more generally to European objectives borne by France. On a European level, the AAMP is thus participating in the management of Natura 2000 marine sites, and the monitoring of the OSPAR regional seas (Channel - Atlantic) and Barcelona (Mediterranean) conventions. It is involved in existing management networks and those under development (Maïa). It coordinates and co-finances different European projects and programmes (INTERREG, LIFE, etc.).
